Chainlink Keepers and Chainlink VRF Go Live on Avalanche

Published by AVAX on

The two integrations add to the security and functionality of applications, benefitting both builders and users.

Avalanche has been integrating market-leading smart contract infrastructure to support its growing developer community. This is why Chainlink Price Feeds were natively integrated on Avalanche in July 2021, giving developers access to high-quality price data to power a wide variety of DeFi applications. Today, we’re excited to announce that Chainlink Keepers and Chainlink VRF are now live on the Avalanche Primary Network, adding further resourcing for these apps.

The two services launched today, benefit both Avalanche builders and users alike.

Simply put, automation services simplify the DeFi experience. Many smart contract functions can be automated, including the liquidation of undercollateralized positions, the execution of limit orders, the harvesting of yield from vaults, and many more.

With Chainlink Keepers, use cases can be built without the need to rely on centralized automation processes. If you’d like to start building with Chainlink Keepers, refer to the developer documentation and start submitting jobs.

Chainlink VRF provides developers a highly secure and transparent RNG. With a wide range of new features, Chainlink VRF offers developers a randomness solution that is configurable, scalable, and cost-efficient. Chainlink Keepers for Avalanche Developers

Chainlink Keepers is a decentralized transaction automation service enabling developers to automate any smart contract function using custom triggers. Developers can specify predefined conditions that Chainlink Keepers continuously check, and when those conditions are met, Keepers issue on-chain transactions that execute the smart contract. Importantly, Chainlink Keepers are secured by the same tamper-proof, Sybil-resistant nodes that help secure tens of billions of dollars of value through Chainlink Price Feeds.

By outsourcing DevOps tasks to Chainlink Keepers, developers can build more advanced, feature-rich apps that are fully automated and decentralized. The potential design space that Keepers open is vast. Implementations include DEX limit order functionality, automating yield harvesting and compounding, starting or stopping blockchain games, dynamic NFTs, DAO automation, and many others. For inspiration on what you can do with Keepers, see Smart Contract Automation Use Cases Unlocked by Chainlink Keepers.

Ultimately, this integration gives Avalanche developers a new way to enhance the uptime guarantees and security of their smart contract DevOps tasks, minimize workload, add advanced features, decrease the go-to-market time for apps, and simplify the user experience.

Chainlink Keepers use a decentralized network to monitor automation logic securely and cost-efficiently off-chain, and then initiate an on-chain transaction to execute smart contracts when predefined conditions are met. Chainlink’s secure off-chain computation unlocks an array of new use cases and helps to make Web3 development as seamless as developing for Web2.

“Chainlink trust-minimized services are critical for Web3 gaming projects. Automating smart contracts with Chainlink Keepers saves valuable developer time and creates a smoother experience for users, while Chainlink VRF provides a tamper-proof source of randomness that inspires player confidence in the integrity of gaming outcomes.” — Oxtender, Co-founder of Crabada

“We chose Chainlink Keepers because it is the most secure and reliable smart contract automation solution in the blockchain industry. Chainlink Keepers save our developers precious time and increase the efficiency of our protocol.” — LB, Founder of Grape Finance

Chainlink VRF for Avalanche Developers

Avalanche developers can now use Chainlink VRF to build apps leveraging verifiable randomness to help secure NFT minting, generate fair in-game outcomes, randomly select governance participants for specific tasks, and support other use cases across DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, and more. Chainlink VRF provides developers with benefits, including:

  • Cost-Efficient Randomness Requests — Chainlink VRF introduces a subscription management app that lets smart contract applications fund multiple requests for random values using a single token balance managed by the subscription owner. Users fill up their subscription balance only once.
  • Variable Callback Gas Limit — Chainlink VRF allows users to adjust the callback gas limit to a 2.5M gas maximum. This enhancement enables smart contracts to execute more sophisticated smart contract logic in the same transaction that delivers verifiable randomness, making the execution of critical tasks involving randomness reliable even during times of network congestion.
  • Multiple Random Outputs in a Single Request — Chainlink VRF leverages a VRF Coordinator contract that lets users request multiple random numbers in a single transaction. In addition, the fulfillment of randomness is also delivered with a single transaction, lowering costs and reducing response latency.
  • Subscription Delegation Between Multiple Addresses — Chainlink VRF lets up to 100 smart contract addresses fund their randomness requests from a single subscription balance managed by the subscription owner. This upgrade saves gas costs and simplifies funds management for developer teams who operate multiple smart contracts needing verifiable randomness.

“Trader Joe uses Chainlink VRF to help enable provably fair batch reveals on our Avalanche-based NFT launchpad. Chainlink VRF can provide multiple random outputs from a single request and verify them on-chain, making our NFT launches more gas-efficient and secure.” — Fish, Co-founder, Trader Joe

“PoolTogether uses Chainlink VRF on Avalanche to help select winners in our V3 and V4 pools. Chainlink VRF’s unparalleled transparency and security help make our no-loss prize savings games provably fair.” — Brendan Asselstine, CTO, PoolTogether

“The launch of Chainlink Keepers and Chainlink VRF is a fantastic milestone for Avalanche builders to simplify both the developer and user experiences, while innovating in Dapp design and functionality,” said Emin Gün Sirer, Founder and CEO of Ava Labs. “The Avalanche Community is full of tireless builders, and their ability to rapidly build and ship applications at scale just became even easier.”

“We’re pleased to support the Avalanche ecosystem with the native integration of Chainlink Keepers and Chainlink VRF, enabling Avalanche developers to create next-generation hybrid smart contract applications that are automated end-to-end and can securely access verifiable randomness,” stated Sergey Nazarov, Co-founder of Chainlink. “With the enhanced security and uptime guarantees provided by Chainlink Keepers and the scalability and cost-efficiency of Chainlink VRF v2, Avalanche developers can now continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the Web3 space.”

About Chainlink

Chainlink is the industry standard for building, accessing, and selling oracle services needed to power hybrid smart contracts on any blockchain. Chainlink oracle networks provide smart contracts with a way to reliably connect to any external API and leverage secure off-chain computations for enabling feature-rich applications.
